Minerva Spirals by Minerva Beaders
Minerva Spirals is a fundraising project to support Bangari and Tsokedeka Primary Schools in Zimbabwe. In a recent letter, Sally Plummer of Minerva Beaders, updates us on the latest news from this project.
In November 2007, 2 palletts of supplies and furniture was sent on its way to Zimbabwe, where unfortunately in the past it has been difficult to get supplies through due to political reasons. However, a local Zimbabwean women, Rudi Gray, is going to personally supervise this shipment to its destination.
It will travel by Landrover and trailer on tarmac and dirt roads to the Umfurudzi Wilderness Area, where it will then travel by canoe over the Mazowe River. It will then be loaded onto ox carts which will then travel on unmade tracks to the schools. It is hoped that the supplies will reach the schools in the early part of next year.
Thanks to the support for Minerva Spirals and through gifts and donations it has been possible to send lots of brand new basic supplies, for example, pens, pencils and paper, and furniture such as school chairs to these schools. They have even sent materials for the girls to make dolls as the children don't have toys.
